Conclusion

"Once I have become a Christian, what is next?"  Often it seems that once a person is saved, little guidance is given and ministries fail to assists those new to the faith.  We hear phrases like 'Christian Walk' thrown about, yet there is little thought given to what this means.

These two verses clearly lay the foundation of what a 'Christian Walk' is to be.  We are to be imitators and mimics of God.  This does not mean that we are striving to become gods or demigods, but we are to follow Jesus example of the life to live (1 Peter 2:21).  We see Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:1 followed Jesus' example and that we, also, should follow Jesus example.

Our thoughts lead to the words we speak and the actions we take.  If we immerse ourselves in thoughts that are vengeful, deceitful, and immortal then our actions will eventfully reflect this.   First John 2:11 states that those who hate their brother walk in darkness.  If we walking in darkness then we are not walking the 'Christian Walk' nor are we following Jesus' example.

If we dwell on what is good, then we walk in the light.  Ephesians 5:8 says that we are to walk as children of light.  The light is God's truth.  As we walk in the light, we are also to reflect the light and Christians are to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16).

A 'Christian Walk' is a long journey that begins with a single step.  No two journeys are exactly the same.  We see at the end of these verses Jesus setting before the adulterous woman the first step she needed to take.  She was not required to give up great wealth as the young rich man was (Mark 10:17-27) nor to become fishers of men (Matthew 4:17-27).  We can assume that this first step would not be easy for her, but it was not impossible and was required for her journey.

For each of us, the journey is slightly different, yet the goal is the same.  Our goal in the 'Christian Walk' is to be more like Christ.  It is a process to be carried on to perfection the work first begun in regeneration, at our moment of salvation.  The goal may seem impossible yet the next step is always an attainable stride for us.  With each step we are that much closer to the goal.
